First Impressions
It's been said you never get a second chance for a first impression!
Curb Appeal
Manicure your landscaping: cut your grass, edge, trim bushes, weed flower beds. Perspective buyers will react positive to a home that has been loved and well maintained.
Give your home an inviting appeal by keeping your driveway clear of parked cars, toys, trash cans, and keep your garage door closed.
If you have weathered shingles or missing ones, repair or replace them. Make sure your gutters are free of limbs, leaves and other debris and properly secure your gutters.
Take a close look at your exterior siding and windows. Repair peeling paint and loose caulking. Buyers will react well to a home that has a neat and clean appearance from street. Inviting them to look inside.
Clean or power wash your driveway and walk ways.
Doorway
Buyers have idle time while their agent opens the lock box to notice details.
Apply a fresh coat of paint to the front door and replace the hardware.
Add pots of fresh flowers in the weather permit.
Clean all cobwebs and groom doorway, lights, and any windows.
Interior Appeal
Once buyers are inside your home they are reaffirming the curbside appeal
Clean, Light and Bright
Give your house a thorough cleaning inside and remove all clutter.
Consider hiring a cleaning service. This could add to the buyer's perceived value of your home.
For a more spacious look, place some of your furniture in storage or ask a family member, friend, or neighbor if you can temporarily store some of your personal items in their garage.
Clear kitchen and bathroom counter tops of everything. Make it show like a model home.
Unclutter and clean closets and cabinets. Since you're moving anyway, consider boxing and storing personal items. Perhaps hold a garage sale of unused items.
A fresh coat of paint, new floor covering can do wonders if possible or needed. Be sure to use neutral colors. This can brighten rooms and make them appear larger. Neutral colors also help buyers envision their own décor and furnishings.
Repair dripping or leaky faucets, replace burned out lights.
Repair/spackle cracks, holes in the drywall board, plaster, tiles and wallpaper.
Warm & Homey
Fresh scents of fresh baked bread or cookies or cinnamon in the kitchen and potpourri in bedrooms make your home more inviting.
